Why the Census Counts with Mark Jerrell

Mecklenburg County Commissioner for District 4 Mark Jerrell recently spoke to MeckCounts about why the 2020 Census is so important.

“I’m committed to ensuring that resources are accessible to our most vulnerable citizens. The census counts everyone – from the very young, to senior citizens, to those experiencing homelessness. The census brings resources like federal funding to people in need.”

Jerrell encourages everyone to complete the census when they get their letter in the mail. “Let’s make it count – complete the 2020 Census.”

According to his Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners bio, Mark is committed to building bridges and breaking down barriers and ensuring that resources are accessible for our most vulnerable citizens. He is passionate about issues of equity, education, affordable housing, access to social services, environment, connectivity via our greenways and ensuring that we have relevant programming at our recreation centers. He is also focused ensuring that minority owned small businesses, seniors, single parents and families and students have the resources needed to experience a high quality of life.
